A team of twelve determined women from South Africa has completed an extraordinary 2,160-kilometre relay run, aiming to set a new world record while raising funds for children in need.
The runners began their journey in Cape Town, taking turns in a nonstop relay that stretched across several regions of the country. The challenge required immense endurance, teamwork, and months of preparation as each runner covered different sections of the route day and night.
Organizers say the attempt is being submitted to Guinness World Records for official verification as the longest women’s relay run of its kind. The group hopes their achievement will inspire people around the world while also drawing attention to important social causes.
Beyond the record attempt, the main goal of the run was to raise money and awareness for organizations supporting vulnerable children. Donations collected during the event will help fund education programs, community support initiatives, and essential resources for young people.
Supporters gathered along parts of the route to cheer on the runners, turning the challenge into a nationwide show of encouragement and solidarity.
