In a historic moment for Indian table tennis, Mantu Ghosh, just 16 years old, stunned the sporting world by winning the women’s singles title at the 1990–91 National Table Tennis Championships held in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Ghosh’s triumph made her one of the youngest-ever national champions, marking a turning point in Indian table tennis. With grit, determination, and a fearless playing style, she outclassed seasoned opponents to etch her name into the record books.

Her victory not only brought glory to her home state of West Bengal but also inspired a generation of young athletes, especially girls, to take up the sport with renewed passion.
