Azerbaijani Shooter Breaks World Record

Azerbaijani shooter Nigar Nasirova delivered a historic performance at the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol 2025 in Cairo, winning a silver medal in the Women’s 50m Pistol event while simultaneously setting a new World Record in the process.

Nasirova’s remarkable effort saw her score 550 points, an achievement that surpassed the existing world best mark.

The final round was a nail-biting showdown that ended in a tie for first place:

Joint World Record: Nigar Nasirova finished with an impressive score of 550, matching the score achieved by her competitor, Yao Qianxun of the People’s Republic of China. Both athletes established a new world best.

Silver on Countback: The ultimate winner was determined by the number of center hits (X). Yao Qianxun was awarded the gold medal with 8x (eight perfect center hits), while Nasirova took the silver with a highly commendable 7x.

The result is a major triumph for Nigar Nasirova, confirming her status among the elite of international shooting and highlighting Azerbaijan’s growing presence on the global shooting sports stage. The World Championship continues in Cairo, setting the stage for more record-breaking performances.
