Inspired by Uncle’s Struggle, Teen Innovator Jui Keskar Develops Device to Track Parkinson’s Tremors

“From a deeply personal struggle to a life-changing innovation, young Indian inventor Jui Keskar has created a breakthrough device to help patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

Jui had been watching her uncle battle Parkinson’s since childhood—a condition that causes uncontrollable shaking of the body. Frequent hospital visits and the visible discomfort he endured left a lasting impact on her.

She noticed a critical gap in treatment: doctors prescribed medication based on how much and how often the patient’s body trembled, but there was no precise way to measure these tremors.

At just 14 years old, Jui decided to find a solution.

Her innovation, called JTremor-3D, is a wearable device designed to track body tremors in real time. The device measures movements every second and sends accurate data directly to doctors, enabling them to make better-informed decisions about medication and treatment.

This means Parkinson’s treatment can shift from estimation to data-driven precision—potentially improving outcomes for thousands of patients.

Jui’s remarkable work earned her the prestigious Bal Puraskar in 2022, bringing her recognition not just in India but also on international platforms.

What began as an effort to help her uncle has now evolved into an innovation that could transform the lives of countless people living with Parkinson’s.”
