Darts legend Phil Taylor has finally been officially recognised by Guinness World Records, eight years after announcing his retirement from professional competition.
Widely regarded as the greatest player in darts history, Taylor—nicknamed “The Power”—was presented with four Guinness World Records certificates during a surprise appearance on BBC Radio Stoke. The recognition celebrates his extraordinary dominance in the sport across three decades.
The honours include records for the most World Matchplay titles (16), most World Grand Prix titles (11), and the most wins in World Darts Championships, where he amassed a remarkable 16 titles overall. He was also acknowledged for his Premier League Darts titles, further underlining his legacy, even though that particular record has since been surpassed.
Taylor retired in 2018 following his final match at the PDC World Championship, ending a glittering career that saw him win over 200 professional tournaments and redefine the standards of the sport.
Reacting to the long-overdue recognition, the 65-year-old expressed pride and gratitude, calling the moment “a real honour.” The surprise presentation not only celebrated his achievements but also highlighted his lasting influence on modern darts.
