Global cable manufacturer Nexans has set a new engineering milestone by installing a subsea power cable at a depth of 3,000 meters, breaking its own world record for the deepest subsea cable installation.
The achievement was announced by the company in Oslo, Norway, where Nexans confirmed that the cable was successfully deployed using advanced deep-sea installation technology and specialized vessels.
The subsea cable was laid on the ocean floor to support large-scale offshore energy infrastructure. Installing cables at such extreme depths is considered highly challenging due to immense water pressure, difficult terrain, and the need for precise engineering.
According to the company, the project demonstrates the growing capability of modern subsea technology to support offshore renewable energy and long-distance power transmission. Engineers used sophisticated monitoring systems and remotely operated vehicles to ensure the cable was positioned safely and accurately.
Industry experts say the new record highlights the rapid development of deep-water energy infrastructure and could help accelerate projects such as offshore wind farms and international power links.
