Twelve Women Running Relay Across South Africa to Set World Record and Raise Funds

“In an inspiring cross-country relay effort, a group of 12 South African women is attempting to set a world record as they run over 2,160 km from Musina in the north to Cape Agulhas in the south — all to raise funds and awareness for vulnerable children.

The relay, organised by Dynamic Women for Children (DWFC), sees the team running in rotating 12-hour shifts, with each woman covering segments of around 2 km at a time as part of the relay strategy. The goal is to complete the entire run in just over a week, a feat that would set a global benchmark for such a long-distance relay on foot.

More than just a test of endurance, the relay — known as Cape2Care 2026 — is aimed at raising vital funds and awareness for DWFC’s work supporting underprivileged children across South Africa through education, mentoring, counselling and essential resources.

DWFC previously organised long charity walks from Pretoria to Cape Town (over 1,400 km), but this year they have stepped up to running the entire length of the country — from its northernmost to southernmost point — in a bid to break a world record and highlight the plight of children in need.”
