Rhodes 101 Stops Convenience Stores has set the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Cup of Soft Drink, captivating soda fans and record-seekers from around the globe.
On 20 August 2017, at a lively event in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the local convenience chain unveiled a colossal cup filled with soft drink that measured a staggering 17,908.60 litres (equivalent to approximately 4,730.95 US gallons).
The giant drink-holding vessel towering 13.74 feet tall was filled over the course of nearly three hours by a dedicated team of volunteers and staff, following strict Guinness World Records guidelines.
Spectators and participants were treated to free servings of the sugary concoction once the massive cup reached its record-setting capacity, turning the celebration into a community-wide refreshment party. The event was timed to coincide with National Lemonade Day and has since become a quirky but iconic achievement for Cape Girardeau, drawing attention from tourists as well as soda lovers everywhere.
