ASUS Unveils ROG XREAL R1 AR Gaming Glasses Massive 171-Inch Virtual Display for Next-Gen Play

At CES 2026, ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has debuted the ROG XREAL R1 AR gaming glasses, a groundbreaking wearable designed to bring big-screen gaming anywhere you go. Built in partnership with XREAL, the new AR headset features world’s first 240 Hz micro-OLED display technology in a lightweight form factor, projecting a massive 171-inch virtual screen with smooth, competitive visuals for immersive play.

The ROG XREAL R1 uses dual 1080p Sony micro-OLED panels with a 240 Hz refresh rate and a 57-degree field of view, offering gamers buttery-smooth motion and responsiveness normally seen on high-end monitors but from a wearable device that weighs just 91 grams.

Designed for versatile connectivity, the glasses can hook directly to devices like the ASUS ROG Ally handheld via a single USB-C connection for zero-setup play. For broader compatibility with PCs, consoles and other platforms, the included ROG Control Dock adds HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 ports, making it easier to switch between gaming systems without a fuss. Unique Anchor and Follow modes enable users to position the virtual screen however they prefer either fixed in space or following head movements while electrochromic lenses automatically adjust tint based on lighting conditions for comfortable viewing in varied environments.

Audio is handled by Bose-tuned spatial sound, delivering rich, immersive audio that complements the expansive visual experience. The glasses also support native 3DoF tracking for responsive on-screen interaction that feels natural and fluid. Scheduled to launch in the first half of 2026, the ROG XREAL R1 aims to redefine portable and competitive gaming by replacing traditional monitors with a wearable virtual display a bold move that brings console, PC, and handheld gaming into a new era of immersive play.
