Dubai has once again proven its architectural brilliance with the Maze Tower being officially recognized by Guinness World Records for featuring the Largest Vertical Maze (permanent) in the world. Soaring 55 stories high in the heart of the Dubai Financial District on Sheikh Zayed Road, this iconic mixed-use structure has transformed into a gigantic, playable puzzle, showcasing both artistic ingenuity and engineering marvel.
Covering a staggering 3,947.22 square metres, the façade features an intricately designed maze pattern created by renowned maze designer Adrian Fisher. The maze forms a real, solvable labyrinth using a sophisticated network of balconies that wrap around the building, turning the skyscraper into a living piece of architectural art.
Developed by the Al Rostamani Group and completed in January 2012, the Maze Tower reflects Dubai’s vision of innovation, creativity, and global excellence. Chairman Marwan Abdulla Al Rostamani expressed pride in contributing to Dubai’s status as a global destination, while Vice Chairman Hassan Abdulla Al Rostamani, conceptualizer of the design, emphasized the intent for the building to appear as though it was “carved out of one massive piece of rock,” accentuated by the contrasting play of light and shadow.
Brazilian Verde Bahia Natural Stone: The façade uses this elegant stone, treated with both water jet and flame techniques to create light and dark contrasts, enhancing the maze’s visibility.
The Maze Eye: An 8-metre circular video wall at the tower’s peak, broadcasting visuals across long distances.
LED Illumination: Built-in lighting transforms the tower at night, highlighting maze lines with vibrant patterns and colors.
Tranquil Gardens: A dedicated garden floor situated midway through the building offers a serene escape.
Rooftop Maze Garden: A maze-patterned garden above the standalone car park adds another unique touch.
With its innovative design and record-breaking features, the Maze Tower reinforces Dubai’s global reputation as a city of limitless creativity and futuristic ambition.
