Leeds Skaters Aim for World Record with Mass High-Five Challenge on Ice

Leeds is set to make history as the White Rose Centre Ice Rink prepares to host an exciting world record attempt — for the most high fives on ice skates!

The event, which brings together skaters of all ages and skill levels, aims to combine fun, teamwork, and local pride in one spectacular celebration. Participants will form long lines across the rink, gliding past each other to exchange as many high fives as possible — all while maintaining balance on the ice!

Organizers say the goal is not just to break a record but to promote community spirit and the joy of physical activity during the winter season. The attempt will be supervised by official Guinness World Records adjudicators to ensure every high five counts.

A spokesperson for the event shared, “It’s a fun way to bring Leeds together. We’re not just chasing a record — we’re creating memories on ice!”

The White Rose Centre, already known for its festive atmosphere, will also feature live music, food stalls, and family-friendly activities throughout the day. Local schools, sports clubs, and skating enthusiasts have already signed up to participate.

If successful, Leeds will carve its name in history — quite literally — as the city of record-breaking high fives on ice!
