PM Modi Releases ₹100 Coin Featuring Bharat Mata

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a significant milestone in India’s cultural and numismatic history today by unveiling a special commemorative ₹100 coin that features the image of Bharat Mata (Mother India). This release marks the first-ever depiction of Bharat Mata on Indian currency since the country gained independence, symbolizing a powerful reaffirmation of national pride and cultural heritage.

The commemorative coin was unveiled at a special ceremony, where the Prime Minister highlighted the historic significance of the release.

Reverse Side: Features a majestic artistic rendering of Bharat Mata, often shown in a posture of blessing (Varada Mudra), accompanied by a lion. This imagery represents the spiritual and cultural embodiment of the nation.

Obverse Side: Carries the Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar, the National Emblem, as is traditional for Indian currency.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the coin is not merely a collector’s item but a tangible representation of the spirit of India that will be “etched in metal, etched in memory.”

“For the first time in the history of independent India, the image of Bharat Mata has been featured on Indian currency, which marks a moment of great pride and historical significance,” the Prime Minister stated. “This coin represents our timeless national consciousness and our dedication to Mother India.”

The move is seen as a major cultural initiative, reinforcing the concept of India as a unified Motherland. The introduction of this imagery into the nation’s coinage aims to connect citizens with the deep-rooted patriotic tradition of venerating the country as the divine mother.

The historic release is expected to be a prized possession for numismatists and patriots alike, cementing the symbolic figure of Bharat Mata firmly within the nation’s contemporary identity.
