Lincolnshire Donkeys Earn Spot in Guinness World Records 2026

The Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary in Huttoft is celebrating a double triumph after two of its residents were officially included in the 2026 Guinness Book of World Records.

Dynamic Derrick, an American Mammoth Jackstock, was confirmed as the World’s Tallest Living Donkey, standing at a colossal 5ft 5in (167cm). Sharing the spotlight is his pal, Bambou, who took the title for the Longest Ears on a Living Donkey, with his impressive flaps measuring 1ft 1in (35cm).

Staff at the sanctuary, which provides care for dozens of equines, expressed their immense delight at the global recognition.

Commenting on the towering Derrick, sanctuary owner Tracy Garton said, “No-one can believe he’s a donkey – they all think he’s a mule because he’s so big.” Despite his size, the sanctuary added that Derrick is a gentle giant who is very affectionate and loves people.

Bambou, described by staff as a favourite with visitors due to his distinctive look, was measured to confirm his record-breaking ears. The sanctuary is now encouraging the public to visit their gift shop to view the official world record certificates for their two famous residents.
