Six Flags Unveils Tormenta: Roller Coaster Set to Break Six World Records in Texas

Thrill-seekers, prepare for a storm. Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has announced that its Six Flags Over Texas park will debut Tormenta Rampaging Run in 2026, a groundbreaking roller coaster designed to shatter six world records and introduce an entirely new ride category: the Giga Dive Coaster.

Timed for the park’s 65th anniversary, the new ride is promised to be “the tallest, fastest, longest and first-ever giga dive coaster in the world.” Tormenta is themed after the running of the bulls in Spain and will anchor a new Spanish-themed village in the park, Rancho de la Tormenta.

The Six World Records Tormenta Will Claim:

The colossal steel coaster, designed by renowned Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard, will dominate the Texas skyline with its unprecedented scale:

  1. Tallest Dive Coaster: Soaring to an epic height of 309 feet.
  2. Fastest Dive Coaster: Reaching a terrifying top speed of 87 mph.
  3. Longest Dive Coaster: Spanning a track length of 4,199 feet.
  4. First-Ever Giga Dive Coaster: Defining a new class for dive coasters over 300 feet tall.
  5. Highest 95∘ Beyond Vertical Drop: Plunging riders 285 feet down at an angle steeper than straight vertical.
  6. Tallest Vertical Coaster Loop: Featuring a towering loop on its circuit that stands at 179 feet, the highest of any coaster of any type in the world.
  7. Highest Immelmann Inversion: Inverting riders at a staggering height of 218 feet above the ground.

Note: While the park lists six records, the official breakdown includes a seventh world’s highest element (the Immelmann inversion), underscoring the extreme nature of the ride.

Park Vice President and Manager, Mark Boyer, stated that the coaster is “a true testament to our commitment to providing world-class thrills and innovation.” The ride will take passengers up a 309-foot lift hill, pause briefly to hold them over the beyond-vertical drop, and then unleash them into the record-breaking circuit, which also includes five total inversions.

Tormenta Rampaging Run is slated to open in 2026, positioning Six Flags Over Texas as a global destination for extreme roller coaster enthusiasts. A computer-animated preview video of the intense attraction has been released by the theme park group.
