The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) has announced an ambitious plan to seek a Guinness World Record during the upcoming Dasara festival by deploying an unprecedented 3,000 drones to create a stunning aerial image of India’s national animal, the tiger.
The decision marks a significant increase from the 1,500 drones used for the popular drone show during last year’s Dasara celebrations.
Munigopal Raju, Managing Director of CESC, confirmed the move, stating the dual objective of enhancing the Dasara spectacle and achieving a global record.
“A decision was taken to increase the number of drones deployed for the show from 1,500 used in 2024 to 3,000 this year,” Mr. Raju said. “During the process, we also learnt that we could set a Guinness record if we display our national animal (the tiger) using 3,000 drones, as nobody had achieved the feat so far.”
The spectacular drone show is a major draw for the Dasara festivities, illuminating the night sky over the Bannimantap Torchlight Parade Ground. By doubling the drone count and focusing on the iconic national animal, CESC is setting the stage for a display of technology and national pride that could place Mysuru on the global record map.
