Asia Cup 2025: Pakistan’s Saim Ayub Equals T20I Record for Most Ducks in a Calendar Year

Pakistan’s young left-handed batter, Saim Ayub, has equaled the unwanted world record for the most T20 International ducks in a single calendar year.

The 23-year-old recorded his sixth score of zero in T20Is in 2025 during Pakistan’s crucial Super Four match against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup on Thursday (September 25).

Ayub’s dismissal for a three-ball duck against Bangladesh marks his fourth duck in the ongoing Asia Cup tournament alone, a competition he entered with high expectations. His six T20I ducks in 2025 places him level with Zimbabwe’s fast-bowler Richard Ngarava, who recorded six ducks in 2024.

This challenging run of form has seen Ayub’s overall T20I career tally rise to nine ducks in 47 matches, moving him past former captain Shahid Afridi (8 ducks) to the second spot on the all-time list for Pakistan, behind only Umar Akmal (10 ducks).

Ayub’s Asia Cup 2025 has been particularly disastrous. His fourth duck in the tournament makes him the first player from a Full Member nation to register four ducks in a single T20I series or tournament.
