Poland’s Aleksandra Miroslaw put on a dominant display of speed and precision, shattering her own world record en route to winning the third women’s Speed World Championships title of her career at the IFSC Climbing World Championships Seoul 2025.
The Polish Olympic champion was in a class of her own, lowering her times in every round of the finals series. Her championship run culminated in a sensational performance, clocking a new world record time of 6.03 seconds and securing the gold medal.
Miroslaw, who previously broke the world record at the Paris 2024 Olympics, was thrilled with the victory. “This one is special,” she said after her win. “After the Olympics the next year is tough for every athlete who took part, so I’m happy for this one. I think my hard work has paid off.”
The final gold medal race was a repeat of the Paris 2024 Olympic final, pitting Miroslaw against Deng Lijuan of China. Miroslaw secured the win, leaving Deng to take the silver with a time of 6.22s—Deng’s first-ever World Championships medal.
The bronze medal race was a tight contest between two Asian climbers. Zhou Yafei of China narrowly edged out home favourite Jeong Jimin of South Korea, finishing in 6.34s compared to Jeong’s 6.38s. The bronze marked Zhou’s first World Championships medal, while the wait for a South Korean Speed World Championships medal continues.
Miroslaw, focused primarily on titles, admitted the world record was a bonus. “For me the most precious thing is titles, so here I just wanted to focus and go fast every single round,” she stated, celebrating the triple delight of a gold medal, a world title, and a new world’s best time.
