In a historic feat of engineering and sustainability, Adani Cement has completed the casting of the world’s largest religious temple raft foundation at the Vishv Umiya Dham in Jaspur, near Ahmedabad. The company announced on Thursday that it has been recognized by the World Records, USA, for this monumental achievement.
The foundation casting, a continuous, uninterrupted operation that spanned 54 hours, is a critical step in the construction of the Umiya Dham temple, which is envisioned to be the world’s tallest temple at 504 feet. To achieve this, Adani Cement used a massive 24,100 cubic meters of its proprietary ECOMaxX low-carbon concrete.
“This project is not just about setting world records—it embodies the quality, scale, speed, and purpose that defines Adani Cement,” said Vinod Bahety, CEO of Adani Group’s Cement Business. “Our ECOMaxX low-carbon concrete has enabled the structure to reduce its carbon emissions by 60%, underscoring our commitment to sustainability and excellence.”
The massive operation was a logistical masterpiece, involving 26 ready-mix concrete plants, over 285 transit mixers, 3,600 tonnes of high-performance cement, and more than 600 skilled workers and technical experts who worked in shifts for three straight days. The meticulous planning ensured a continuous pour, with embedded thermocouples monitoring temperature in real-time to guarantee the foundation’s durability and integrity.
The Umiya Dham complex, a 60-acre spiritual landmark with an estimated investment of ₹2,000 crore, is a project of the Vishv Umiya Foundation. It is set to become a hub for social, cultural, and spiritual activities, featuring a skill university, a hospital, and a sports complex. R.P. Patel, President of the Vishv Umiya Foundation, praised the partnership with Adani Cement, stating that their expertise in large-scale projects made them the natural choice for the task.
