Hilda Baci Breaks Record Again with World’s Largest Serving of Nigerian Jollof Rice

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has once again made history, earning her a second Guinness World Record for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. The record was officially confirmed on Monday, recognizing the colossal pot of jollof rice that weighed an astonishing 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz).

The record-breaking culinary event, a collaboration with food brand Gino, took place in Victoria Island, Lagos. The spectacle drew thousands of spectators, including celebrities and food enthusiasts who came to witness the historic moment.

Hilda Baci, who gained global fame in 2023 for her Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, has now cemented her status as a global ambassador for Nigerian cuisine. She and her team spent nine hours preparing the massive dish, which required a specially designed pot and a crane for weighing. The event is a fresh chapter in the region’s long-running “jollof wars”—the friendly rivalry among West African nations over who makes the best version of the dish.

The record-breaking amount of jollof rice was distributed to hundreds of onlookers and community members, ensuring that none of the food went to waste. This latest achievement is a testament to Baci’s determination and her ability to bring a positive global spotlight to Nigeria. As she celebrates her second world record, she continues to inspire a new generation of West Africans to pursue their passions and aim for global recognition.
