In a touching tribute to their late parents, a group of siblings in Spain has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records for the “largest collection of dog-related items” in the world. The collection, which was a lifelong passion of their parents, Rosa Galobardes Galvez and Marià Gabarró Grau, now consists of a staggering 5,025 different items.
The Gabarró siblings—Rosa, Marià, Nuri, Enric, Miquel, and Teresa—took on the meticulous task of counting and cataloging their parents’ expansive collection after they passed away. Their dedication was rewarded when Guinness World Records confirmed the new title on March 15, 2025.
What began as a simple hobby for their mother, Rosa, in her 60s was enthusiastically supported by her husband, Marià, who was a sales manager and carpenter. He would hunt for new dog figurines during his business trips to bring home as gifts. The collection, which includes figurines made of ceramic, glass, wood, porcelain, and metal, was housed across two family residences in Terrassa, near Barcelona.
Interestingly, while their parents loved these inanimate representations of dogs, they weren’t particularly fond of live ones. Teresa Gabarró, one of the siblings, joked that now her West Highland White Terrier gets to play with some of the soft toys from the collection, bridging the gap between their parents’ passion and their own.
The siblings expressed their hope that their parents’ passion and effort would be shared with the world, inspiring other collectors and enthusiasts.
