DPES Campus in Kharadi Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Diya Rotation Performance

The Dhole Patil Education Society (DPES) campus in Kharadi has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the “Most People Performing Diya Rotations Simultaneously.” On the evening of Wednesday, September 3, a total of 1,724 women came together to perform a Ganesh aarti, a traditional Hindu ritual, in unison.

The record-breaking attempt, which was overseen by a team from Guinness World Records, broke the previous record of 1,459 participants, which was set in Ayodhya. The event was a coordinated effort, with participants holding lit oil lamps and rotating them in a synchronized manner according to strict guidelines.

The participants included a diverse group of Indian and international students, faculty members, and devotees from across the city, all of whom were dressed in traditional attire. A provisional certificate of the record has been handed over to DPES Chairman Sagar Ulhas Dhole Patil, with the final verification and official listing on the Guinness World Records website expected to take a few days.

According to the organizers, the event was more than just a record attempt; it was a prayer for universal peace and a way to celebrate the Ganesh festival in a way that unites people. The historic achievement is a testament to the community’s spirit and devotion, and it marks a new milestone for Pune on the global stage.
