A Wisconsin man has once again extended a world-famous record that spans over half a century. Donald Gorske, 71, has officially been certified by Guinness World Records for consuming more than 35,000 Big Mac burgers in his lifetime, a milestone he reached on March 15, 2025.
Gorske, a retired prison officer, began his lifelong obsession on May 17, 1972, and has since eaten at least one McDonald’s Big Mac nearly every day. While his daily intake has settled at two burgers—one for lunch and one for dinner—he is known for his fastidious tracking. Gorske has meticulously saved every single receipt and burger carton, organizing them in boxes and calendars to prove his consumption.
Despite a diet that has largely consisted of Big Macs for over 50 years, Gorske maintains that he is in good health, a fact that has often perplexed doctors. He credits his well-being to a daily six-mile walk and a high metabolism. He also foregoes French fries with his burgers, opting for a small snack of ice cream or potato chips later in the evening.
In a statement to Guinness World Records, Gorske offered some straightforward advice to anyone who might consider challenging his title. “Don’t,” he quipped. “I’ll be dead before you could even challenge it.”
For Gorske, the record is not just about the numbers; it’s about a lifelong passion that began when he saw a Guinness World Records book in 1970. His single-minded dedication to a singular goal has turned a quirky habit into one of the world’s longest-running and most unusual continuous records.
