David Rush Reclaims World Record for Longest Chair Balance on Chin

Serial record breaker David Rush has once again proven his mastery of focus and balance, reclaiming a title that was once his. The prolific American author, speaker, and entertainer, known for turning ordinary objects into extraordinary feats, has set a new Guinness World Records title for the longest duration balancing a chair on his chin, with a time of 1 hour, 20 minutes, and 30 seconds.

The record was set on November 20, 2024, at the West Boise YMCA in Boise, Idaho. Rush’s victory was a sweet one, as it marked his successful attempt to reclaim the title from Spain’s Christian Roberto López Rodríguez, who had surpassed Rush’s previous record in 2021 with a time of 1 hour, 19 minutes, and 17 seconds. Rush’s new time beat the former record by over a minute, solidifying his dominance in this unique category.

The chair of choice for the attempt was a lightweight brown patio chair. With his back straight and face tilted toward the ceiling, Rush carefully balanced the chair upside down on his chin, making micro-adjustments to keep it from toppling over.

“I love the challenge of taking a record back,” Rush said. “It’s about demonstrating resilience and a growth mindset, showing that you can always improve and come back stronger.”

His successful attempt was part of a remarkable day in which he broke 15 records, adding to his collection of over 300 Guinness World Records titles. His other feats range from the most table tennis balls bounced against a wall with his mouth in 30 seconds to the most behind-the-back baseball touches in one minute. His quirky and awe-inspiring achievements not only entertain but also serve as a platform to promote STEM education and inspire people to pursue their passions, no matter how unusual.
