A lifelong passion for LEGO® has earned one Belgian man a place in the record books. Steven van Dyk, a 41-year-old LEGO enthusiast from Antwerp, has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records for having the largest collection of LEGO Minifigures, with a staggering count of 11,803.
The record, which was verified on April 24, 2025, surpasses the previous mark by over 2,000 minifigures. Van Dyk’s journey to becoming a world record holder began innocently when he was just eight years old with a single pirate minifigure that had an eye patch and a red and black striped top.
“It was one of the first that started my love for LEGO,” van Dyk said in a statement to Guinness World Records. He added that his original pirate figure, which had been lost for years, was recently found by his mother and returned to his collection.
His passion has now grown to such an extent that his collection has outgrown the space in his home. Van Dyk explained that he now has to rotate parts of his collection on display, as he no longer has the room to show them all at once.
His collection includes a wide variety of minifigures, from popular franchises like Star Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to rare and limited-edition characters. Van Dyk noted that the joy of collecting is not just about the numbers but also about the thrill of finding new pieces and trading with fellow collectors. His achievement stands as a testament to how a simple childhood hobby can evolve into a world-class pursuit.
