Singapore’s UOB Plaza Shines Bright, Breaks Three World Records

One of Singapore’s most iconic skyscrapers has been transformed into a record-breaking canvas of light and color. In celebration of the nation’s 60th anniversary of independence (SG60), UOB Plaza One was lit up with a massive projection mapping display that has achieved not one, but three Guinness World Records.

The visual spectacle, a collaboration between UOB Singapore and multimedia specialists Hexogon Solution, was verified in June 2025 as the:

  • Largest light output in a projected image
  • Longest architectural projection-mapped display (temporary)
  • Highest projected image on a building

Standing tall at 280 meters, the UOB Plaza One building was a perfect backdrop for the historic event. The project utilized a staggering 74 projectors to achieve a total light output of 5.85 million lumens, creating a show that was not only a technical marvel but also a heartfelt tribute to the nation.

The projection, which ran nightly from June 28 to August 9, 2025, was part of a larger series of events commemorating SG60. The display featured a six-minute animation titled “Unity,” which celebrated Singapore’s journey of progress and resilience. It also showcased works by local artists from the UOB Painting of the Year competition and paid tribute to the nation’s multicultural identity through the artwork “Majulah Singapura” by Sam Lo.

“This is our way of giving back to the community and celebrating our shared journey with Singapore,” said Janet Young, UOB’s head of group channels. “The show is a visual spectacle for all to enjoy and to commemorate this major milestone for the nation.”

The record-breaking display served as a beacon of national pride and technological innovation, illuminating Singapore’s past and present as the country looks toward a bright future.
