Clever Parrot Xiaogui Sets World Record for Fastest Colour Identification

In a remarkable display of animal intelligence, a parrot from China has set a new Guinness World Record, proving that some feathered friends have an exceptional eye for color. The clever parrot, named Xiaogui, has been officially recognized for the fastest time to identify 10 colors, completing the challenge in an impressive 33.50 seconds.

The record-breaking attempt, which took place on November 24, 2024, in Jiaozuo, Henan, was a testament to the bond between Xiaogui and his owner, Qin Feng. The challenge required Xiaogui to retrieve 10 colored straw balls, one by one, and place them into their corresponding bins. The order of the balls was deliberately mixed up to test the bird’s ability to recognize and sort the shades.

Xiaogui performed with near-flawless accuracy, showcasing his remarkable color coordination skills. A particularly impressive moment came when the parrot, after initially confusing two similar shades of pink, quickly corrected his mistake and placed the ball in the correct bin, a feat that astonished the official adjudicators.

Qin Feng, who first met Xiaogui as a baby in 2020, credits the bird’s strong interest in colored toys for sparking his training. He began by teaching the parrot to recognize and sort colors, gradually polishing his skills to the point of perfection.

The record not only highlights Xiaogui’s unique abilities but also serves as a poignant reminder of the incredible intelligence of animals. It’s a fun and lighthearted achievement that has already garnered significant attention online, solidifying Xiaogui’s place as a true record-breaking star.
