Rollercoaster enthusiast Dean Stokes has officially set a new Guinness World Records title for the “most rollercoasters ridden in one week,” an extraordinary feat achieved during his quest to conquer every single rollercoaster in the UK and Ireland.
Battling the unpredictable British summer weather, including the effects of Storm Floris, and navigating a meticulously planned travel itinerary, Stokes successfully rode an adrenaline-pumping 55 rollercoasters in a seven-day period. His accomplishment far exceeded the inaugural target of 30 rides set by Guinness World Records.
“I didn’t set out to set a record, just to do something fun and share it online,” Stokes said. “I’m proud to be the inaugural record holder, and now I want to see other enthusiasts give this a go. So, consider this my challenge to you all! I’m ready to hand over the baton.”
The record-setting week was part of a broader, more ambitious mission for Stokes, who has been documenting his journey to ride every one of the more than 120 rollercoasters across the British Isles. His attempt has been widely followed on social media, where he shares the highs and lows of his adventure, from unexpected theme park closures to the unique challenges of traveling between different parks in a limited timeframe.
Stokes, who left a corporate job at Google to pursue his passions, hopes his achievement will inspire others to embrace their own unique interests. His journey proves that with dedication, passion, and a bit of luck, even the most daunting of challenges can be overcome, one exhilarating ride at a time.
