World’s Largest Scotch Egg Weighs 8kg, Breaks 17-Year-Old Record

Move over, watermelons — the new heavyweight champion in the food world is an 8kg (17.6lb) scotch egg with a staggering circumference of 79.5cm (31.3in), officially crowned the largest ever made.

The colossal creation came from the hands of food content creators Oliver Paterson and Phoenix Ross, better known online as ElBurritoMonster and Shef_Phoenix. On 17 June, the duo smashed the previous record of 6.2kg (13.7lb) — a title held for nearly 17 years by speciality egg producer Clarence Court.

“It felt great that we’d got it,” said 27-year-old Phoenix, who admitted the challenge took weeks of planning, from securing giant ingredients to perfecting the cooking process without cracking the enormous egg.

The supersized scotch egg, which consists of a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat, coated in breadcrumbs, and deep-fried, drew both awe and disbelief from online fans.

With their record now officially recognised, Oliver and Phoenix have cemented their place in Guinness World Records history — proving that when it comes to culinary ambition, size really does matter.
