Anahat Singh Makes History with India’s First World Junior Squash Medal in 15 Years

In a monumental achievement for Indian squash, 17-year-old Anahat Singh has clinched a bronze medal at the 2025 World Junior Squash Championships, ending India’s 15-year-long medal drought at the prestigious global event.

The championship, held in Riyadh, saw top junior players from over 40 nations competing fiercely. Anahat displayed extraordinary skill and composure throughout the tournament, defeating higher-seeded players from Egypt and Malaysia before narrowly missing out on a place in the final.

This historic bronze marks India’s first World Junior Squash medal since 2010, when Dipika Pallikal last stood on the podium. Anahat’s triumph not only revives India’s presence on the international squash stage but also signals the arrival of a new generation of talent.

“I’m proud to bring this medal home for India. It’s been my dream to stand on the world stage, and this is just the beginning,” said Anahat, beaming with pride after the match.

Trained under coach Abhinav Sinha at the Delhi Squash & Fitness Centre, Anahat has been a rising star in Indian squash, already holding multiple national titles and having represented India at the Asian and Commonwealth levels.

Squash Federation of India officials praised her achievement, calling it “a turning point for junior squash in India.”
