Bengaluru Doctor Turns Car into Lifeline: Over 1.2 Lakh Treated Free in Mobile Clinic

In a remarkable testament to compassion and commitment, Dr. Sunil Kumar Hebbi from Bengaluru has transformed his personal car into a mobile clinic, delivering free medical care to more than 1.2 lakh people since 2011. Operating across slums, railway stations, and underserved areas, Dr. Hebbi’s selfless mission has seen him conduct over 800 medical camps in the last 14 years.

What began as a small initiative to help daily wage earners who couldn’t afford to miss work for a hospital visit has grown into a full-scale mobile healthcare movement. Equipped with basic medical supplies, his car-clinic reaches the forgotten corners of the city where access to primary healthcare is nearly non-existent.

Dr. Hebbi treats a wide range of ailments—diabetes, high blood pressure, infections, and more—offering not just prescriptions but also health education and counseling. Despite challenges like funding and long working hours, he remains steadfast, often operating solo and funding the camps through his own earnings and donations.

His tireless service has earned him widespread national recognition and accolades from civic bodies, NGOs, and medical institutions. Yet, the doctor remains humble, saying, “True healthcare must reach the doorstep of the needy.”

Dr. Sunil Kumar Hebbi’s mobile clinic stands as a powerful symbol of empathy in action—an inspiring model of grassroots healthcare that proves one person can make a difference, one patient at a time.
