Dutch sprint sensation Femke Bol etched her name in the history books on Sunday by setting a new world record in the women’s indoor 400m, clocking a blazing time of 49.26 seconds at the Dutch National Championships in Apeldoorn.
The 22-year-old star shattered the previous world record of 49.59 seconds, held for an astonishing 41 years by Czech athlete Jarmila Kratochvílová, who set the mark in March 1982.
Bol’s electrifying performance left spectators in awe and reaffirmed her position as one of the brightest talents in track and field. Known for her strength in both the 400m sprint and hurdles, Bol has now redefined the limits of the indoor 400m.
“This means so much to me,” Bol said after her historic run. “To break such a long-standing world record on home soil is a dream come true.”
The feat adds another major milestone to Bol’s growing list of achievements and positions her as a major contender for the upcoming international championships.
