In a sizzling celebration of culture and cuisine, Phuket has officially entered the Guinness World Records for the largest number of people simultaneously stir-frying Hokkien noodles. The record-breaking event was the standout moment of this year’s Phuket Peranakan Festival, drawing enthusiastic crowds and international attention.
Held at Saphan Hin Park, the event brought together over 1,000 participants, all armed with woks, aprons, and the signature ingredients of the famous Phuket Hokkien noodles. At the blow of the whistle, the massive group stir-fried in unison, creating a spectacular display of culinary unity and local pride.
The event was part of the Phuket Peranakan Festival, which celebrates the island’s rich Baba-Nyonya heritage. Organizers said the record was not just about numbers, but about highlighting the island’s multicultural identity through one of its most beloved dishes.
“This is more than a record—it’s a tribute to our community, culture, and culinary roots,” said Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat, who also took part in the cook-off.
Guinness World Records officials were on-site to verify and confirm the achievement. After meticulous checks, they awarded Phuket the title for “Most people stir-frying in one location”, placing the island firmly on the global culinary map.
