A man who miraculously survived a life-threatening bungee-jumping accident over three decades ago is now aiming to break a formidable world record, all while raising money for charity. Mike Land, 52, from Swindon, fractured his pelvis in 1993 when his bungee rope tragically snapped.
Undeterred by his past trauma, Land is planning an extraordinary feat of strength and endurance: he intends to pull a van as far as he possibly can over flat ground within a 24-hour period. The current world record for this specific challenge stands at 32 miles (51.5 km).
The ambitious attempt could commence as early as 12:00 BST this Thursday at Britannia Road, by Cotswold Airport, pending a final site survey.
Despite the severe injuries sustained in his 1993 accident, Mr. Land has since completed numerous demanding physical challenges, a testament to his incredible resilience. He currently works as a fitness instructor and designer, channeling his experiences into helping others. His upcoming record attempt not only highlights his unwavering spirit but also his dedication to supporting a charitable cause.
