Kelechi Ezihie, a determined golfer hailing from New York, has reportedly completed an extraordinary 36-hour golf marathon, an ambitious attempt to claim the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous golf session.
Ezihie embarked on his epic golf challenge with an initial goal of 24 hours. However, midway through his endeavor, he learned that a British golfer, Isaac Rowlands, had recently completed a 32-hour session in Norway. Undeterred, Ezihie pushed on, extending his marathon to a remarkable 36 hours.
The grueling session, which took place at a course on Long Island, saw Ezihie playing through day and night, utilizing flashlights and glow-in-the-dark golf balls to navigate the course in darkness. Friends and volunteers were on hand to provide support, record video evidence, and act as witnesses, fulfilling Guinness World Records’ stringent verification requirements.
While official confirmation from Guinness World Records can take several weeks as specialists review the submitted evidence, Ezihie’s resilience and determination have already garnered significant attention. His attempt also carries a broader message, as he aims to promote diversity in golf and is working to raise funds to establish a golf center in his native Imo State, Nigeria, to introduce the sport to more children.
Ezihie’s incredible feat highlights the physical and mental endurance required to push the boundaries of human achievement, and the golf world now eagerly awaits Guinness’s official verdict on whether he has successfully etched his name in the record books.
