Determined and armed with only pencils, paper, and passion, Abidemi Praise Omopariola, known as Praise, is attempting to make history by setting a Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon Portrait Drawing.
The student artist has taken over a Sunderland bar, where she has been drawing non-stop since earlier this week, aiming to sketch portraits for 80 consecutive hours.
More than 60 hours into the attempt, Praise admitted the challenge was taking its toll:
“I wasn’t tired at first, but 60 hours is a lot — I might have to take a cup of coffee,” she said with a smile.
Her record-setting attempt is scheduled to conclude on Friday, and if successful, she will become the first person to hold the title for this artistic endurance feat.
Spectators and supporters have been dropping by to cheer her on, turning the bar into a hub of creativity and community spirit. With sheer dedication and a steady hand, Praise is proving that art can go the distance.
