Guy Martin Gears Up to Break Motorcycle Land Speed Record with 300mph Attempt

TV presenter and retired motorcycle racer Guy Martin is set to take on one of motorsport’s most daring challenges — attempting to break the world land speed record on a motorbike.

The 43-year-old adrenaline enthusiast from Grimsby has announced plans to hit 300mph (482 km/h) within a mile of a standing start on his specially modified bike. The bold announcement came ahead of the Straightliners Speed Show held at Elvington Airfield, near York — a venue renowned for high-speed feats.

Martin’s latest adventure coincides with the launch of the Spirit of GB project, a British engineering initiative aiming to break the official FIA motorcycle world land speed record, which currently stands at just under 376mph. The project’s ultimate ambition? Smashing the 400mph (643 km/h) barrier.

“I’ve always liked a good challenge,” said Martin. “This is about testing limits — of machines, of speed, and of ourselves.”

Known for his fearless spirit, engineering expertise, and deep love for speed, Martin’s attempt is being closely watched by motorsport fans around the world. If successful, it could etch his name into the history books once more — this time, at breathtaking velocity.
