“Bhavnagar Makes History: 552 Couples Exchange Garlands in Record-Breaking Mass Wedding”

In a heartwarming display of generosity and community spirit, Maruti Impex Foundation and philanthropist Suresh Lakhani (both India) have set a new Guinness World Record for the most people exchanging garlands simultaneously, with an astounding 552 couples (1,104 participants) taking part in the event held in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, on 6 November 2022.

The record-setting garland exchange was part of a mass wedding ceremony organized for underprivileged couples who could not afford to host a wedding of their own. Funded entirely by the foundation and Lakhani, the event covered all expenses, from rituals to attire and reception arrangements, allowing the couples to celebrate their special day with dignity and joy.

Following the completion of the traditional marriage rituals, the newlywed couples gathered in a specially designated area to participate in the official record attempt, symbolizing their union through the culturally significant act of garland exchange.

This initiative not only brought happiness to hundreds of families but also underscored the power of compassion and social responsibility, making the event a memorable moment in Bhavnagar’s history and a proud milestone for India.
