India Sets Global Record with Largest Synchronized Sun Salutation Across Multiple Venues

In a landmark celebration of health, unity, and ancient tradition, India has set a new world record for the most people performing Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) simultaneously at multiple venues across the country.

The record-breaking event took place on International Yoga Day, with lakhs of participants from schools, yoga centers, public parks, and stadiums joining in from over 1,000 locations nationwide.

Coordinated by the Ministry of AYUSH and various yoga organizations, the initiative aimed to promote physical wellness and cultural pride by honoring Surya Namaskar — a foundational sequence in yoga that improves strength, flexibility, and mindfulness.

“This is a proud moment for India. Through yoga, we’ve united millions in a shared rhythm of breath, movement, and purpose,” said a senior government official.

Guinness World Records representatives monitored the event through satellite links, drone footage, and on-ground observers to verify that all participants completed the sequence correctly and simultaneously. The final tally confirmed the successful setting of a new global record.

With international yoga enthusiasts and Indian diaspora joining virtually, the event also served as a beacon of India’s cultural leadership in global wellness.

From sunrise to record-setting, India’s synchronized Surya Namaskar showcased the country’s spiritual strength and collective harmony — saluting the sun and the world together.
