In a historic feat of community participation, the Sabarkantha District in Gujarat has set a world record for the largest mass pledge to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness.
The record-setting event was spearheaded by Banchhanidhi N. Pani (I.A.S.), Collector & District Magistrate of Sabarkantha District, who organized the event as part of the “Swachh Bharat” campaign on December 23, 2014.
A staggering 241,402 participants from across Sabarkantha District took part in the event by taking a cleanliness oath in English, Hindi, and Gujarati, underscoring the region’s commitment to a cleaner, greener, and healthier future.
The event, held at various locations throughout the district, not only set a new world record but also reinforced the importance of community involvement in achieving the vision of a Swachh Bharat.
