Young Kerala Innovator Transforms Coconut Harvesting with Groundbreaking Robot

What began as a makeshift balcony theatre has blossomed into a remarkable journey of innovation and impact. At just 23, Ashin P Krishna, a Kozhikode native, has turned his childhood curiosity into a revolution for coconut farmers.

When he was in Class 6, Ashin set up a small theatre on his balcony, unknowingly laying the foundation for his future as an innovator. Today, he is the founder of Altersage Innovations and the brain behind Coco-bot, a semi-automatic coconut-harvesting robot that’s transforming the lives of coconut farmers across Kerala.

Traditionally, coconut harvesting is a dangerous and labor-intensive job, often requiring skilled climbers to scale tall trees. But Ashin’s Coco-bot changes that, offering a safer, easier, and more efficient way to harvest coconuts—helping farmers overcome labor shortages and reduce the risk of accidents.

Ashin’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. He faced moments of doubt, regret, and reinvention, but his drive to make a meaningful social impact kept him going. His story serves as an inspiration for young entrepreneurs everywhere, proving that even the smallest ideas—like a balcony theatre—can grow into something that changes lives.

As Altersage Innovations continues to expand, Ashin’s vision of transforming agriculture with technology is just getting started, and Coco-bot is already creating a buzz not just in Kerala but beyond.
