Book Tula As Dowry To Promote Girl Education Sets World record

In a heartwarming and inspirational gesture promoting the cause of “Save Girl Child, Educate Girl Child,” Shri Jyotiba Hardevsinh Jadeja and Shri Hardevsinh Jadeja organized a unique Pustak Tula (Book Weighing Ceremony) during the wedding of Ms. Kinnari Ba in Rajkot, Gujarat.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, instead of traditional dowry, the family gifted over 2000 books in various languages, weighing equal to the bride’s weight, to mark her new beginning. The aim of this initiative was to highlight the importance of literacy, especially for girls, and to set an example against dowry culture.

The symbolic ceremony was conducted amidst a traditional wedding celebration and drew attention to the powerful message of education and empowerment. The event successfully set a New World Record on 14th February 2020, earning accolades from attendees and dignitaries present.

This unique celebration not only honors Indian traditions but also brings progressive values to the forefront, encouraging society to value knowledge over material dowry and uplift girls through education.
