In a landmark initiative during the Diwali Festival Celebration 2021, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) — a Government of Gujarat enterprise — successfully launched an extensive travel campaign for the citizens of Gujarat and its neighboring states.
Under the dynamic leadership of the Vice Chairman & Managing Director of GSRTC, the corporation initiated its Online Passenger Reservation System (OPRS) Travel Campaign from October 25 to November 16, 2021. The campaign aimed to provide seamless and accessible travel services during the festive rush.
A historic achievement was recorded on November 8, 2021, when GSRTC booked a total of 94,539 seats in a single day through its OPRS platform, generating a record-breaking revenue of over INR 1.80 Crores. This extraordinary feat has officially set a New World Record for maximum single-day online ticket bookings by a government-run transport organization.
The campaign’s success was powered by coordinated efforts from the OPRS Cell (EDP), the Traffic Department, and robust technical support from Radiant Info Systems Private Limited, Bangalore, Karnataka — the official system integrator.
This achievement not only demonstrates GSRTC’s commitment to public service but also showcases how government institutions can leverage digital solutions to drive efficiency, accessibility, and scalability in public transportation.
