D.E.S. Primary School Pune Sets New World Record with Massive Yoga Event “Yoga – Mat to Mind”

In a powerful initiative to promote stress reduction, boost immune health, and enhance mental well-being among students, D.E.S. Primary School, Tilak Road, part of the Deccan Education Society, organized an extraordinary yoga event titled “Yoga – Mat to Mind.”

Led by Advocate Rajeshree Thakar, School Committee Chairman, and Mrs. Archana Dhanawade, Headmaster and Project Head, the event brought together over 1,200 primary school students, along with 70 parents and 60 teaching and non-teaching staff members. Together, they performed a series of 30 synchronized yoga poses over a span of 150 minutes, culminating in a new world record for the largest and longest yoga session by a school community.

The event took place on the spacious grounds of D.E.S. Primary School, Tilak Road, Pune, and was conceptualized and expertly managed by Mrs. Yoginee Kanade (Project Manager), Mrs. Gracia D’Souza (Project Coordinator), and advised by Dr. Sharad Aher, Dr. Milind Sampgaonkar, and their dedicated team.

“This record isn’t just about yoga; it’s about instilling lifelong habits of wellness and mindfulness in our children,” said Mrs. Archana Dhanawade. The event not only showcased the students’ enthusiasm but also emphasized the vital role yoga plays in nurturing healthier and more balanced minds.

This landmark event has been officially certified as a new world record, highlighting Pune’s commitment to fostering holistic education and well-being in young learners.
