In a moment of pride for India, Anurag Choursiya and Sonali Parmar, a couple from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, have etched their names in history by becoming the first Indian couple to achieve a remarkable trio of patriotic and spiritual acts on Mount Elbrus (5,642 meters) — Europe’s highest peak.
On 16th August 2023, after successfully summiting Mount Elbrus, Anurag and Sonali proudly displayed the Indian National Flag, sang the Indian National Anthem, and performed 7 Sun Salutations (Suryanamaskar) at the summit, celebrating their accomplishment in a uniquely Indian way. This extraordinary feat not only demonstrated their physical endurance but also their deep-rooted patriotism and spiritual discipline, earning them a new record.
The challenging expedition was undertaken under the expert guidance of Anand Bansode of 360 Explorers, a well-known name in the field of adventure and mountaineering. Their inspiring act symbolizes the spirit of modern India — blending adventure, culture, and national pride on one of the world’s most formidable peaks.
Speaking about their achievement, Anurag and Sonali expressed, “Climbing Mount Elbrus was a dream, but to stand at the top with our Tricolor, singing the anthem and performing Surya Namaskar was our tribute to our motherland. It was a spiritual and patriotic moment that we will cherish forever.”
Their achievement has sparked inspiration among couples, youth, and adventure enthusiasts across the country, encouraging them to embrace fitness, national pride, and cultural traditions.
