“Fortress Unbroken: India’s Record Run of Consecutive Home Test Series Wins”

India’s remarkable dominance at home has finally come to an end after an unprecedented run of 16 consecutive Test series victories stretching over 11 years. Between March 2013 and October 2024, India turned their home grounds into fortresses, dispatching every visiting team without surrendering a series.

The historic streak concluded on 26 October 2024, when New Zealand stunned the cricketing world with a 113-run win in Pune, completing a 3–0 series whitewash — India’s first home Test series defeat since England’s 2–1 triumph back in December 2012.

India’s record-setting run saw them sweep aside cricketing heavyweights with ease. Australia fell thrice in this period (4–0 in 2013, 2–1 in 2017, and 2–1 in 2023), while England, after their 2012 success, endured heavy losses (4–0 in 2016, 3–0 in 2021, and 4–1 in 2024). Other teams such as South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh all returned empty-handed, unable to breach India’s home stronghold.

The landmark 16th consecutive series win was sealed against Bangladesh in Kanpur on 1 October 2024, in a rain-hit match that saw India set new records for the fastest team milestones in Test cricket — including the quickest team 50 (19 balls) and 100 (62 balls).

India’s astonishing home stretch is the longest series-winning streak in men’s Test cricket history on home soil, underscoring their sustained dominance in the longest format. Though the run has ended, the legacy of this golden era remains firmly etched in cricket history.
