The foundation stone laying ceremony for a Hindu temple in Village Kagvad became the backdrop for a spectacular world record-breaking event earlier this year. During the grand ceremony, organised by the Shree Khodhaldham Trust, 24,435 couples participated in a historic attempt to set the record for the most people shaking hands simultaneously.
The event, which took place in January and drew a crowd of over 2 million devotees from the Leuva Patel community, was a momentous occasion of both spiritual significance and record-breaking achievement. After the worship of the Hindu deity Khodayal Maa, couples, in perfect coordination, joined hands in a large-scale handshake chain, creating a striking visual that will go down in history.
The event was expertly organised and carefully timed to meet the Guinness World Records criteria, resulting in the official recognition of this incredible feat. This achievement not only highlighted the unity and dedication of the community but also celebrated the importance of cultural events in bringing people together.
The successful attempt has made India proud, adding another remarkable record to the nation’s growing list of achievements, all while honouring a revered Hindu tradition and fostering community spirit.
