“Inauguration of the Aeronautical Society of India: Advancing Aeronautics and Engineering”

On 17 December 1948, the Aeronautical Society of India was officially inaugurated in Bangalore (now Bengaluru), Karnataka, with a vision to promote scientific and engineering excellence in aeronautics and aerospace technology across the country.

Established in the post-Independence era, the society aimed to support the advancement of aeronautical science, encourage research and innovation, and facilitate the exchange of knowledge among professionals, engineers, and academicians in the aviation sector. Its creation marked a major step in India’s journey toward becoming a self-reliant nation in the field of aerospace.

The Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI) has since grown into one of the most prestigious professional bodies in the domain of aerospace and aviation engineering, with members from civil and military aviation, academic institutions, research organizations, and the aerospace industry.

Over the decades, the Society has played a pivotal role in shaping India’s aviation policies, supporting aeronautical education, and providing a platform for technical collaboration through seminars, publications, and training programs.

Today, AeSI continues to inspire and contribute significantly to India’s progress in aerospace, including ventures in satellite technology, defense aviation, and commercial flight systems.
