Formula E Car Sets Guinness World Record with 218 KM/H Indoor Speed Run

Formula E driver Jake Hughes set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest speed achieved by a vehicle indoors. Driving the innovative GENBETA electric race car, Hughes reached a top speed of 218.71 km/h (135.9 mph) inside London’s ExCeL Centre, surpassing the previous record by over 50 km/h.

The record-setting attempt took place on a 346-meter indoor straight, with Hughes achieving the top speed on his fourth official run. Fellow Formula E driver Lucas di Grassi also participated, narrowly missing Hughes’ mark with a top speed of 217.65 km/h.

The GENBETA car used for this feat featured several enhancements over the standard Gen3 model, including increased battery power output from 350kW to 400kW and the addition of all-wheel drive. These modifications contributed to the car’s exceptional performance during the indoor speed record attempt.

This achievement not only showcases the advancements in electric vehicle technology but also highlights Formula E’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric motorsport.
