First Indian Chairman of the ICC

N. Srinivasan made history by becoming the first Indian to serve as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) from 2014 to 2015. His appointment marked a significant milestone in the governance of international cricket, highlighting India’s growing influence within the sport’s global administration.

During his tenure, Srinivasan played a crucial role in shaping the future of international cricket, particularly in terms of financial and administrative reforms. His leadership coincided with a period of restructuring within the ICC, which included a shift in the distribution of revenue and power dynamics, often referred to as the “Big Three” era, involving India, England, and Australia.

Srinivasan’s role as ICC Chairman followed his tenure as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), where he had a major impact on the development of Indian cricket, particularly through the establishment and success of the Indian Premier League (IPL). His leadership at both national and international levels underscored India’s pivotal role in the global cricketing landscape.
