Malaysian Student Sets Asian Record with Longest Love Poem in English

Selinaah Muralitharan, a 21-year-old Malaysian student, has etched her name in the Asia Book of Records by composing the Longest Love Poem in English in November 2020. This literary feat marks a new milestone in the region’s creative landscape.

Selinaah’s passion for poetry had already garnered recognition earlier that year. In January 2020, she secured a place in the Malaysia Book of Records for composing the Longest Melancholic Poem in English — a work spanning 3,324 words and 118 stanzas.

Balancing her academic pursuits with her love for writing, Selinaah credits her success to effective time management and unwavering dedication. “It’s possible to excel in studies and still follow your passion,” she says, encouraging fellow students to explore their creative side.

Her achievements not only celebrate literary artistry but also stand as a testament to perseverance, inspiring young creatives across Malaysia and beyond.
